Marana Energy Services

Marana Energy Services (MES) entered into operations in 1982 and was incorporated as a limited liability company in 1997. It has successfully completed a number of supply and turnkey contracts in the oil, gas and power sectors, and has recently invested significantly in the mining and minerals sector of Bangladesh.

CES has built up a wealth of professional experience and in-house technical skills, with staff including highly-qualified geologists, geoscientists, economists, and electrical, mechanical and civil engineers who have unrivalled experience of working in the petroleum and power sector.

Oil and Gas Sector: As one of the leading companies involved in the industry in Bangladesh, CES has earned the distinction of being the only private sector company to have undertaken petroleum geology and reservoir study on the acreage in exploration blocks of Bangladesh, in collaboration with Corelab / BAPEX / Petrobangla. CES takes pride in being associated with a number of prestigious projects in Bangladesh, including the development of the first oilfield in Bangladesh at Haripur and first offshore platform at Sangu built by KBR.

CES is active in providing EPC of gas-processing plants, gas pipeline construction, supply of drilling materials, drilling rigs, line pipes and oilfield seismic and drilling services. CES also provides consultancy, logistics and local mechanical, electrical and civil engineering support and services to the national oil companies (NOCs) and international oil companies (IOCs) operating in Bangladesh in both downstream and upstream activities.

CES is now poised to enter into oil, gas and coal exploration and development with international JV partners.

Power Sector: CES was the first Independent Captive Power Producer in the country. CES built a 10MW gas-engine power plant for the Scan Cement factory in Bangladesh, under a joint venture with the Rolls Royce Power Venture, UK. CES is involved in operation and management of power plants, substations, transmission lines and supply of power transformers, switchgear, conductor and major electrical equipment.

CES in partnership with Mahkota Technologies (formerly GEC Malaysia), is credited for building the first 230KV substation for PGCB. It is the first organisation in Bangladesh to attain the ISO 9001 Certification in respect of O & M of the Captive Power Plant.

Automation & Instrumentation: CES has been established as the leading process instrumentation company in Bangladesh. Marana Instrumentation serves gas fields, refineries, fertilizer plants, gas process plants, power plants, metering stations, and chemicals industries. These range from specific products such as valve, measurement, analytical and control equipment to complete integrated solutions for the industries.

Resources Sector: Marana has undertaken significant investment in mineral sands exploration and mining in Bangladesh. We have equity interest in Premier Minerals Ltd., Bangladesh, the operating arm of Premier Minerals Limited Singapore, an exploration and mining company with investments in Bangladesh and Australia. This industry will bring many benefits to Bangladesh. This venture includes import substitution, massive GDP growth, employment, new regional industries, significant flow of income to the government, and the creation of many new job skills. CES is also involved in the Maddhapara Hardrock Mining project in Bangladesh.

Health

CT represents Sabena Aerospace Engineering S.A., Belgium which is leading independent and international aviation solutions provider for civil and military operators. By 2020, Sabena Aerospace will be one of the most recognized independent aviation services provider in the EMEA countries for delivering unique and innovative solutions to both regular and complex needs.

CT is experienced in carrier relations for voice, data, mobile and fixed, satellite business. We also have Value Added Services through the state run telecom, BTCL, as well as private ILDs. CT partnered with Sicap, AG, a company providing various value added services and platforms to the mobile operators in Bangladesh.

CT has been the pioneer in accomplishing numerous projects in Bangladesh. A prime example was in 1989 with the help of Nokia, CT established the largest radio microwave communications project funded by Finnida; which remains the premier source of communication in the domestic circuit.

CT worked with Thales. Thales installed the radar and monitoring system of the Dhaka International Airport. CT completed the primary and secondary radar installation and upgraded the ATC at the international terminal.

Marana Technologies

Marana Technologies has a Master Agreement with Kymeta Corporation which is commercializing software-enabled metamaterials-based electronic beamforming antennas and terminals for satellite communications.

Kymeta's new mTenna suite of satellite antennas are ultra-thin and use a holographic approach to electronically acquire, steer and lock a beam to a satellite. The flat, lightweight and cost effective satellite tracking antennas are designed to work seamlessly for communication in high-volume markets where traditional satellite antennas are not currently practical or feasible, such as automotive, maritime, and aviation.

Kymeta Corporation was founded in August 2012 after spinning out of Intellectual Ventures. Kymeta announced commercial availability of its first products—the mTennau7 antenna subsystem module (ASM) and KyWay terminal—in March 2017, which are the first metamaterials-based products to be successfully commercialized.

Kymeta has also partnered with Intelsat, operator of the world's first Globalized Network, to offer KALO satellite services, which can be bundled with all Kymeta products. Kymeta has also raised almost $200 million in funding, the company's largest investors include Bill Gates, Liberty Global, Lux Capital, and Osage University Partners.

Marana Technologies has entered into multinational partnerships with Doshion, the Allahabad-based water management company and Veolia; the French pioneer in water supply and management services which provides cutting edge water solutions to the Bangladesh market.

Marana Technologies is also an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and is currently establishing partnership and teaming with Syniverse Technologies, a global company that provides technology and business services for the telecommunications industry.

Marana Shipping & Logistics

Marana Shipping and Logistics (CSL), the maritime arm of the Marana Group, was established in 1980. CSL aims at offering efficient agency services to foreign vessels calling at the Bangladesh ports.
